The last three weeks have been very busy – we have been working on an intensive English training course for all third year language students. With about a month now before their graduation and then the starting of their careers as teachers, we were asked to give a five day training programme for the hundred or so students. The course featured a mix of teaching techniques, classroom management, games, English skills and discussions, all of which should prove to be useful in their future jobs. The students told us they particularly enjoyed the games and warmers as it is something that doesn’t happen in classes here. We could also see some real progress in the students, especially the female participants who grew more confident and less shy and were happily participating in all activities by the end of the course. On Saturday we ended the training with the giving of certificates and we were happy with how it all went; only wishing that we had been given more time to do even more, but overall this has been the best thing I’ve done on my placement. Well done to the students!
