The college is undergoing a period of change – so-called BPR – Business Process Reengineering. In reality, this means walls are being knocked down, offices moved to new buildings and the management stucture rejigged. The second semester saw a lot of offices move to a new office block – a coverted former dormitory – and this included the English Language study room I am working in. A number of rooms in the teaching block have been converted to classrooms and this week saw the biggest change so far. The staff lounge, the focal point for all college life – meetings, coffee and football matches on TV – has been knocked down! Staff now have to have their tea breaks in the former records office while a new staff lounge is being constructed, this time 30 metres long, with two storeys, a restaurant, meeting rooms and indoor table tennis! It’s due to be finished in the next couple of months so staff are bound to spend even more time than before in the new lounge. Onwards and upwards for the college!!
