We hear a lot of Ethiopian music all around us – on the TV in the staff lounge, coming from the bars and shops in town and on the buses. Western music is pretty rare here – so it’s nice to hear something completely different. The music videos are very enjoyable too and have a style all of their own – especially the dancing. It’s also possible to notice some differences between the music from the different regions. We’ll try and highlight some of the different music and dancing that’s all around us. Here’s a song we hear a lot – Zumbara – from the Berta people of Benishangul-Gumuz, Ethiopia – on the Western border with Sudan.
