VSO training

We’ve just spent the last few days in Harborne Hall, Birmingham and have had training on skills that we will need in working in development.

I think I’ve learnt more about how exactly I am going to do my job. I alway knew that it wasn’t simply about me going overseas to tell others what to do. It’s more about involving others in the process and creating an environment which allows people to feel empowered and take control of their lives.

So we spent a long time developing our skills in facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution. I recognised some skills I already had in these areas and now know the things in which I need to improve on!
